VASANTRAO NAIK: Historical Fact to Remember THROUGH OTHERS' EYES FROM THE GOLDEN PAGES OF HISTORY In the words of Shri. Hon.Praka

SHRI. HON. PRAKASA   (Former Governor of Maharashtra)

I had the pleasure of coming in close contact with Shri. Vasantraoji Naik when I went to Bombay as Govenor.  He was then Minister for Agriculture, and I knew how hard and devotedly he worked and what improvements he was able to effect in the departments under his control after the bifurcation of the composite State of Bombay and the formation of a separate State of Maharashtra.He.  Continues in the Council of Ministers as Minister of Revenue.  He belongs to Vidarbha and when he was a part of Madhya Pradesh he had already served as a deputy minister of that state.  In the reorganization of the states in 1956, Vidarbha became a part of Bombay and then he came to the Bombay Ministry.  On the sad death of Shri.  Kannamwar, Shri.  Naik became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra, and has been carrying on with rare courage and ability, despite endless difficulties created both by nature and by man.  Shri. Naik is an essentially human person and that is what is particularly attracted to him.  He is a person of wide sympathies and most scrupulously keeps up his association with colleagues once those are formed.  I have personally, always felt the most courteous to him for the great courtesy and consideration he has been pleased to extend even after I retired from the Governorship of the Maharashtra State.  In Shrimati Vatsalabai, his wife, he is indeed a great comrade who has been through him through thick and thin in a life which has been devoted to public service from the very beginning.  His expertise in the political arena will always be remembered not only to Maharashtra but also to all Indians and  he will be certainly  a guide for those who lead political leadership. had the pleasure of coming in close contact with Shri.
